Meet Our Team

Jonathan Gassett, Ph.D.


Dr. Gassett has more 20 years experience as a wildlife biologist, land manager, and high level governmental policy maker in the wildlife conservation field. Jon holds Master’s and Doctorate degrees in wildlife management and is a Certified Wildlife Biologist with The Wildlife Society. Jon served as Commissioner for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, the Wildlife Division Director, and Big Game Coordinator.  

Kristie R. Blevins, Ph.D.


Dr. Blevins is a Professor in the School of Justice Studies at Eastern Kentucky University. Kristie received her Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati. Her research interests include wildlife crime and prevention. She is also a highly-trained quantitative analyst. She teaches upper division and graduate level classes in data analysis, research methodology, and statistics.  

Robin Gassett


Robin has more than 40 years experience as a land manager specializing in quality deer management. He manages more than 600 acres in northeastern Kentucky where he regularly produces trophy-quality white-tailed deer and turkeys. In addition to his management experience. He also serves as a licensed nuisance wildlife trapper for Southern Wildlife Resources.

Our Background & Mission



Southern Wildlife Resources LLC was formed in 2007 by Dr. Jonathan Gassett when he saw a critical need for professional expertise in natural resources management by private citizens, corporate landowners, and government agencies. He specifically developed Southern Wildlife Resources to:  

  • Resolve the growing conflict between urban wildlife and human populations
  • Manage the increasing demand for fish and wildlife for recreational use. 
  • Specialize in conservation land management, planning, and education.

Our mission is to be the leader in managing, conserving, and protecting the wildlife resources for our customers. We will accomplish this mission by providing professional expertise that promotes common-sense decisions and processes that benefit private landowners, communities, corporate partners, and governmental and non-governmental organizations.
